Christmas In The Cloisters

Next Saturday and Sunday (6th / 7th December) sees me selling JB*JB wares in the beautiful location of Lacock Abbey.
.
.
Owned by the National Trust, Lacock Abbey is featured in the Harry Potter films as some of the scenes set in Hogwarts.
..
The Christmas In The Cloisters event is packed with traditional stalls, a gorgeous Christmas Tree, live music and a Santa's Grotto.
.
.
If you're in the Wiltshire area next weekend and fancy seeing Hogwarts for yourself, pop along and say hello - I shall be in the marquee.
.
.
This will be my second time selling at this fair and it had a really good atmosphere last year.
.
Not only that but the village of Lacock is absolutely beautiful -
I have blogged about it here.
.
.
.
You could combine your visit with a look at the nearby village of Castle Combe.
.
.
Castle Combe was used in the film Stardust as the village of Wall.
.
.
There is also the village of Biddestone with its traditional duck-pond:
.
.
As well as the nearby Roman and Georgian city of Bath.
.
.
.
If you do come to the christmas fair, make sure you wrap up warm because although it's all under-cover, it is exposed to the weather!
.
(And bring lots of cash as there are no card facilities)
.
Maybe see you there?

Bunting For A Wedding

I was asked recently to design some bunting for a wedding shoot.
.
.
The couple wanted to use a photo of their church with personalised bunting for their invites.
.
It was quite daunting choosing the fabrics to use as I didn't want it to be too "girly".
.
I settled for a pink and yellow clolourway in floral, vintage styles
(all from my stash!)
.
.
I have heard word from the bride that it made her smile when she saw it ....
.
Hope you have a lovely day Hannah and Stu

Well Shiver Me Timbers!

When I was a little girl I used to have an old-fashioned wooden writing desk with a proper lift up lid and ink-well.
.
It had been my mum's desk when she was a little girl and I asked her if she still had it as I'd quite like boy*jelly to have it.
.
.
She got it down from the attic at the weekend and it is now in it's new home of boy*jelly's bedroom.
.
.
I explained to him that this had once belonged to me when I was his age and showed him where I'd written my name.
..
The ceramic ink-well is no longer there, but there was this inside:
.
.
I had completely forgotten about my Pirate pin-ball game.
.
.
I must have spent a lot of time playing on it because all of the pictures came flooding back to me - even the sounds of the ceramic balls inside reminded me of my childhood.
.
boy*jelly can make use of the desk ... but he's not alllowed near the pin-ball!
.
PS - I know what you're all thinking ... but why would I iron a piece of fabric that I'm just going to shove back in the drawer as soon as I've taken the photo?

Tell All Tuesday

.
The question for today's Tell All Tuesday is : .
.
.
Did you have an imaginary friend?
.
My answer
.
I did.
.
He was a boy mouse but his name was April Mouse and he wore a stripy waistcoat.
.
I don't really remember much about him as I think I must have been very young, but my mum often reminds me of "The Oxford Trip".
.
We used to live half-an-hour away from Oxford and one Saturday we were on our way in the car to do some shopping.
.
When we arrived at the car-park I declared that we had left April Mouse at home.
.
I was completely incosolable and made my Dad turn the car round to go and collect him.
.
We apparantely drove back home - half-an-hour away - to collect an imaginary friend!
.
Spoilt? Moi?
.
I do clearly remember April Mouse telling me one day that he had to leave to look after another family and I never saw him again.
.
I wish I could draw a picture of what April Mouse looked like to show you, but I guess looking back, I might have been influenced by The Clangers....

Art On My Parts

As I get older and saggier, I am of a mind to have a tattoo.
.
I have even started watching Miami Ink.
.
I wouldn't have anything that other people could see.
.
.
I don't want anything on display.
.
.
So that leaves either my bum, boobs or belly.
.
No point having it on my bum because I'd never be able to see it.
.
.
Boobs is just too .... painful sounding.
.
.
Which leaves my belly.
.
I have quite a large area as a blank canvas.
.
.
It's also quite numb from the over-stretching it endured
(boy*jelly was a big baby!)
.
So what shall I have?
.
I did consider having a mole popping it's head out from a hole it had dug.
.
Then when people complain about having freckles and moles, I could tell them that I'm covered in moles, and tell them I have a huge one on my tummy ... then flash them my mole-tatt.
.
.
But I think I would like something pretty and flowery that would make me smile when I saw it in the bath.
.
..
.
.
.
Any ideas?

Clickety-Click

I can now announce which blog appeared the most on my URL referral report between 14th and 21st November.
.
It was a close-fought battle between 2 blogs.
.
At the beginning of the competition, I thought the prize would be going to :
.

.

.
But in the end she was no match for :
.
.
Who put a sneaky link on her blog at the end of the week and took the lead with a total of 72 hits.
.
I would still like to send lzilulu (who in my head is pronounced liz-zulu) a little something to say thank you for all your clicks, so can you both email me your postal addresses.
.
Thank you to anyone who did their best to get their readers over to my blog
