Blogging Etiquette

.
I like to think I've slipped into the Blogging Community with a cheery wave and have provided a few giggles since I started this blog last year.
.
.
I like reading other people's blogs.
.
.
I like receiving comments.
.
.
I like it when I get a new follower.
.
.
But here's the thing.
.
Is it bad manners to not follow somebody's blog if they have chosen to follow yours?
.
If somebody new leaves a comment, am I expected to then leave a comment on their blog?
.
I like receiving awards, but I choose not to show them on my blog - is that rude of me?
.
I currently have 126 feeds in my bloglines and am following 114 blogs through blogger.
.
That's nearly 250 blogs people!
(I ran out of imaginery fingers to do the sum)
.
.
I can't possibly read them all and leave comments on them as well.
.
.
.
So. Here's the deal.
.
I will continue to update my blog with the inane nonsense as before.
.
But please don't be upset if I don't appear to be reading yours or following yours or leaving comments on yours.
.
It's nothing personal.
.
.
I just really need to get on with some housework.

Blog Giveaway (As Long As You Don't Like Gold)

.
Well, another momentous blogging event passed un-noticed.
.
This is my 252 nd blog post!!
.
In time-honoured fashion, I have decided to host another blog giveaway!
.
.
Up for grabs this time is one of my beaded watches.
.
.
I can make it in any colourway, and it is adjustable by the wearer so it will fit any wrist size.
.
.
I have to point out though, I do not currently have any gold colour watch-faces, so I can't make a gold one.
.
.
So you could have one in pink.
.
.
Or lilac.
.
.
Or green.
.
.
Or even blue.
.
.
Or how about red?
.
.
Or maybe even black and silver?
.
.
Just not gold.
.
.
To enter, leave a comment on this post stating what colour you would like if you win.
.
Anybody choosing gold will be disqualified.
.
PLUS! Add a link on your blog to this giveaway, and get an extra free entry!
.
(Just leave a comment letting me know your blog where the link is and make sure you explain that I can't do gold)
.
I will post anywhere in the world, so it's open to International bloggers ...
as long as they don't want gold.
.
I shall draw a name out of a suitable receptacle on Sunday 8th March
.
Important Bits:
.
(1) One entry per person, plus a bonus entry for mentioning the giveaway on your blog - just remember to let me know!
.
(2) Your watch will be made for you - it won't be one of the ones in the photographs as they are all sold.
.
(3) Gold is not available.

Tutorial : How To Change Your Blog Background

I do not consider myself a blogging expert, but I have, by trial and error, found out how to update the backround to my blog and thought I would share.
.
Firstly, I am using Blogger (not wordpress or any of the others)
.
Secondly, you will need to have a photobucket account (or other photo-hosting account) to host your chosen image
.
Choosing and Hosting Your Background Image
.
I chose my latest blog background image from this fantastic web-site.
There are over 40,000 different seamless tiled images to choose from and it's free to use!
.
.
Once you have chosen your copyright-free image, upload it to your photobucket account.
.
You will then need to copy the 'Direct Link' html code (as shown below)
.
.
Changing Your Blog Layout
.
From your customise layout page in Blogger, choose "Edit Html"
.

.
Now you want to Download Your Full Template to your computer. This is an important step, because it will copy all the coding for how your blog looks NOW. In case you make a really big screw-up, you know you have your original coding saved on your PC.
.
.
Now go back to the customise layout page and choose "Choose New Template".
.
.
Make sure you have the Minima template selected.
.
.
Go back to "Edit Html" and in the "Edit the contents of your template" box, find the part of the code that looks like this :
.
.
You want to change this part :
.
.
With the word " url " followed by the direct link html code you copied from Photobucket.
.
So it looks something like this :
.
(I have blanked out my full album url)
.
DO NOT CLICK SAVE!
.
To see what your blog is going to look like with your new image, click preview.
.
.
If you're happy, click save and you're done.
.
If not, you can either choose clear edits to cancel the changes you made, or you can find another image and start all over again!
.
Tips
.
Please make sure you use copyright or free-to-use images.
.
If you delete the image from your Photobucket album, the image will no longer appear on your blog.
.
Do make sure you download your original template - I learnt that the hard way!!

Combined Camper Vans

.
Remember my earlier post (here) about which style of camper-van was the best?
.
I've now completed the updated design for the Personalised Camper Van Pe Bag using a combination of both styles.
.
.
I was never happy with just using a plain red button for the VW logo and couldn't stitch anything good enough either.
.
.
After sourcing a supplier in the UK, I have commissioned exclusive buttons, just for us, and think they complete the look of the camper-van a treat.
.
.
I didn't want to copy the VW logo exactly because of copyright, but I am chuffed with how they look.
.
.
I will be updating the girls' version shortly, using hot-pink buttons in the same style!
.
Thank you if you left a comment on my previous post - it all helped me decide on the eventual design.
.
All our personalised PE bags are available to buy from the website here

A Night With Jimmy

.
I had a rare night out last night.
.
I went to see the comedian Jimmy Carr with a friend.
.
.
He was performing in Bath and was very, very rude!
.
I couldn't possibly repeat any of his jokes here, but we did have a good laugh (which turned into a barking-cough in my case, thanks flu virus!)
.
I took a sneaky picture of him whilst he was signing programmes.
.
. On the way back to the car, we walked past the weir which I thought I would share with you as it's a view I very much take for granted.
.

Meet Mia

.
A bit of self-promotion coming up ....
.
I've just finished another new design in the girl's Personalised PE Bag range:
..
.
I used curly wool for her hair and shimmery iridescent fabric for her clothes.

.

She wears a sea-shell necklace and is holding a gold sea-shell button.

I'm really pleased with how she has turned out - she's just what I saw in my head!
.
Thanks also to granny*jelly for sewing her face!
(I shall drop 50 blank faces for you to sew round later!)
.
Available to buy on the jellybelly*jellybrain website here
