You Asked For It

I have been left some interesting questions, and I shall do my best to answer all of them...
.
Buffy asked: "what is the most embarrassing / foolish thing you have done out of love for someone?"
.
As soon as I saw this question, I groaned a bit, because I really don't embarrass that easily, let alone out of love for somebody.
.
I wracked my brains and the best I could come up with was; when I was breastfeeding, I was very successful at producing the goods (think Pamela Anderson crossed with a Heiffer).
.
Let's just say my story involves an excess amount of squirtage on my part and the mopping up of a friends' sofa about 2 feet from where I was sitting, and leave it at that shall we?
.
momof2gr8kids wants to know: what you would be if you had your dream "job"
.
Well I know Dr Who is without an assistant at the moment, and I would love to star alongside the scrummy David Tenant...
.
.
(Is that a sonic-screwdriver in his hand, or is he just pleased to see me?)
.
Or, perhaps they'd consider me when they start to film "Ocean's 14"?
.
.
But the job I have at the moment is pretty much my dream job ... being a mum, blogging, crafting, running my own business, showering when I want to and not having to wear make-up is pretty much as good as it gets!
.
April asked : what is your favourite snack (sweet or savoury!)?
.
When I was pregnant, I had a hankering a lot of the time for sweets like Haribo, and had loads of packs in case of emergency. Every now and then I still get a craving for them and that's when Mr Jelly tends to get a bit twitchy in case I'm, you know, the 'p' word.
.
.
My savoury choice of snack would have to be crisps or cheese, or maybe the two together.
.
In Blog-land My Name is Lola.... needs to know : How old are you, and how much do you weigh??
.
Yeah, right.
.
Tine wonders : I would like to know your favourite book or movie -if you have one ;-) What kind of music you like to listen to....
.
I don't really have the time or concentration for books these days, but I do enjoy any book that Bill Bryson writes ... I particularly like this one:
.
.
And I enjoy reading any of Julia Donaldson's books to boy*jelly.
.
.
My absolute favourite film is "Stardust".
.
.
Robert de Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer are fantastic in it.
If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it - it has everything; magic, romance, comedy, adventure as well as having a lovely, traditional-style storyline.
.
As for music ... if the technology has worked, you should be hearing some of my music taste.
Leave it playing - some of my choices might surprise you!
.
Rubyred asked : What are your three best and three worst qualities? (I'm sure you only have good ones!)
.
Worst - being messy, having no patience, speaking before I think.
Best - I have a good sense of humour, generous, loyal
.
Alison Boon asks : If you were a colour what colour would you be and why?
.
Hmmm ... 3 guesses anybody?
.
PINK !
.
Because it can be both soft and gentle as well as shocking and vibrant.
.
Pink Feather Paradise wants to know : What was the first artistic/creative thing you ever made and how old were you when you made it?
.
I had to speak to my Mum about this, because I don't really remember anything in particular, and I certainly haven't kept anything.
.
These are what I remember:
.
I turned my Cindy doll into a skinhead ... I cut all her hair off so it was spiky, made her a white t-shirt and jeans out of denim and painted her feet black for Dr Martens. I think I may also have pierced her ear with a pin.
.
When I was fairly small I made a patchwork cushion, which up until recently I still had, but I tried to find it to photograph and can't find it. I do know I'd used really funky, bright fabric, so no change there then!
.
I seem to remember a brown, squishy shape that I painted silver glitter on and called it a hedgehog pin cushion ...
but then again, that might have been last week.
.
ethel and edna's tearoom wants to find out : As we are fellow W(?)AH mums I just wonder, when you were in the 'real' world, what 'proper' jobs you have done and what was the worst one?
.
Whilst I was still at school, in order to pay for my cigarettes, I used to work at a local hotel. I did the washing up. It scarred me for life and I can no longer do manual washing up (if it can't go in the dishwasher, I don't buy it) The piles of plates and dishes used to come in with all the leftover food still on them. I had to scrape the food into a giant black bin that was outside. In the sun. One time I peeked inside the black bin ... it was crawling with maggots. You've never seen anybody scrape plates faster than I did in those days.
.
There was also a lovely lad who used to do bottle-washing and general bar duties. I married him. So there was a plus side!
.
I think I count that as my worst job.
.
.
After school, I started my *ahem* career working within the travel industry. Nothing very exciting, just general admin roles.
.
My first ever boss sent me to college once a week to learn how to touch-type. I learnt on these rickety old-fashioned typewriters where you had to press the keys down really hard. I don't really remember much else about the lessons, but needless to say it stood me in good stead.
.
When I first started working you could smoke at your desk (!) and I can remember lighting up a 'fag' whenever I had to make a phone call. How hedonistic!
.
I used to have to type all the correspondence to European hotels on the Telex machine. One day it broke and an engineer came in to sort out the problem. He told me that one day soon we wouldn't be using telex machines any more - we'd be using something called a "fax" machine and you would write your words on a piece of paper and they'd come out the other end. I was so wide-eyed and innocent that I didn't believe him!
.
We also didn't have any computers (double !!) and Annie used to type everything on a typewriter with carbon paper. I can remember the day she took delivery of her latest typewriter .... that showed you the words on a tiny little screen before they got printed out on the page so you could amend any mistakes without the need for Tippex.
.
That was my first job after leaving school and it makes me sound like I'm about 50 years old, but it was only 1988!
.
.
This is the same model telex machine as I used to use. I had to find the image on a website that had "museum" in the title *sigh*
.
After that job I had various similar jobs - sitting at a computer, answering the phone, pretending to do filing, buying sandwiches from a snack-van - you know the sort of thing.
.

.
FeltFinland asks : What is your greatest achievement to date and why?
.
That's easy ... boy*jelly.
.
.
Because he has a gorgeous, kind, clever, loving and happy soul.
.
Esther enquires: Have you ever broken a bone and if so how?
.
My immediate response to this was a resounding 'no', but then I remembered the incident involving a matress....
.
My computer sits in a fairly narrow little room (it used to be a corridor) and 2 years ago we replaced the mattress on our spare bed.
.
The old one needed to be taken to the recycling centre, so we propped it up on it's side in the computer room.
.
Each time I got off my chair, I would have to remember to make a swerve-motion to get round it.
.
Except one night I forgot and caught my little toe on the ribbed-edge of the matress.
.
Something made a "crunch" sound (it wasn't the mattress) and then somebody made a "holy £"!^&*)% *(%*%£" sound.
.
Oooh, it really hurt.
.
So I decided to sit down at the dining room table and do something safe like cutting out.
.
How I forgot that the table had legs I don't know, but I did it AGAIN to the same toe.
.
That time it actually broke. And I cried.
.
Needless to say, I can't wear very tight shoes now without my little toe becoming numb.
.

I had fun with this post - I hope you did too?

Maybe you could do the same on your blog?
