Blogging Etiquette

.
I like to think I've slipped into the Blogging Community with a cheery wave and have provided a few giggles since I started this blog last year.
.
.
I like reading other people's blogs.
.
.
I like receiving comments.
.
.
I like it when I get a new follower.
.
.
But here's the thing.
.
Is it bad manners to not follow somebody's blog if they have chosen to follow yours?
.
If somebody new leaves a comment, am I expected to then leave a comment on their blog?
.
I like receiving awards, but I choose not to show them on my blog - is that rude of me?
.
I currently have 126 feeds in my bloglines and am following 114 blogs through blogger.
.
That's nearly 250 blogs people!
(I ran out of imaginery fingers to do the sum)
.
.
I can't possibly read them all and leave comments on them as well.
.
.
.
So. Here's the deal.
.
I will continue to update my blog with the inane nonsense as before.
.
But please don't be upset if I don't appear to be reading yours or following yours or leaving comments on yours.
.
It's nothing personal.
.
.
I just really need to get on with some housework.
.

LOL. I don't think you're alone in wondering this. I feel terribly guilty when the unread items in my google reader list pile up and I don't have a chance to comment on all the posts!

hehe! I've been considering a similar post to this for a while! Blogging without obligation I think it's called. In the end, I decided that I like my blog, even if nobody else does so I shall keep doing it, whilst reading the blogs I like, but I don't have time to comment all the time either and I guess everyone else is the same. x

Brilliant post - I couldn't have summed it up better. Love the cartoons.

I think most of us feel the same way. It's why I answer comments in my comment box rather than sending out emails - I just don't have time. I read LOTS of blogs, but don't comment all the time - nobody can, can they? It's YOUR blog - you do what the hell you like, and stinky pooh-bum to anyone who doesn't like it. So there.

Not that I'm childish or anything.

Great post.
I have over 700 blogs in my bloglines - a lot are work related ones, so I don't have time to comment/read most. I do sometimes feel bad about not commenting on all of them, but I'd lose my life to it if I did. I've arrived at the *shrug* stage. I dip in and out, here and there.

Hehehe! I've been wondering the same! I don't follow any blogs but some make it into my favourites so thats how I know!

i do believe we are all the same Emma :) I follow so many blogs but dont feel that I have to comment on each and every blog post that they do, if one really hits me then I leave a comment.
blog land is strange and Im sure we all get the odd 'annoymous' comments!!!
But hey I've made some great friendships just from having an online diary :)
xx

You're not the only one Emma, I'm the same, I do like to blog hop when i can, but don't always have time to comment
thriftymrs is spot on, i sometimes feel bad too but i think blogging is supposed to be fun, nobody should feel pressured to comment unless they really want to.

You read my mind.
There are just not enough hours in a day for me to do everything, thus why I haven't been very crafty of late. :(

Sounds like we are all in the same boat. don't beat yourself up. There are tons of blogs worth following but seriously you have gotta draw the line somewhere eh?

I agree with all of the above

hey, it's whatever works for you--there are so many wonderful places, there's no way to keep up with them all, comment, e-mail, etc. etc.

i make occasional rounds, and lucky me to have come round here when you were having a giveaway!

very nice!
