My Virtual Sleepover

.
Are you feeling sleepy?

.

.

.

.
Well stop it - he doesn't like it!

.

.

Recently, I signed up for Mrs Thrifty's Sleepover Swap.

.

.

I don't "do" swaps very often as I'm always aware of deadlines and running out of time, but as soon as I read about it on her blog I had a flash of inspiration for something I could make.
.
My partner was Rhiannon
.
..
.
We politely introduced ourselves at first, but then got to know each other through the power of blogging and emails.
.
We were both giddy with anticipation by the end of this week, waiting for our parcels to arrive - as excited as waiting to go to a real sleepover!
.
Luckily, we both received our swap parcels on the same day so now we're free to finally blog about our makes and goodies!
.
.
This is what she sent to me ...

.

A box stuffed with pink prettiness!

.

.

And what's that your eyes have been drawn to?
.
.
.
.
OMG! It's a Cath Kidston bag ....!
(To recreate the moment, insert a squeal here)

.

.

.
.

And inside was the most gorgeous Cath Kidston mug.
.
AND it's proper china!
.
.
I've already had 2 cups of tea out of it I LOVE it that much!
.
.
When I'd stopped showing my mug to Mr Jelly and boy*jelly who
really couldn't understand what all the fuss was about looked suitably impressed in their boy-like way, I unwrapped the other packages.
.
.
.
.
Rhiannon had made me this lovely overnight bag and it was her first ever attempt at making anything like that ... and she did it just for me!
.
.
.
.
She'd also included this vivid-pink nail varnish (for those essential girly moments at a sleepover) and the colour is just so perfectly me!
.
.

.
.

There was also some jelly sweets to give me a sugar-high when the night is starting to get late.
.
.
.
.
And once I am suitably hyper, I can make up dance routines to my own mix of sleepover music and sing into my hairbrush.
.
.

.

And then when it's time to think about settling down (and the sleepover hostess's mum is banging on the door asking if we know how late it is?), she had kindly sent me some hot-chocolate to send me off to sleep.
.

Well, great minds think alike they say, and here are some pictures of what I sent to Rhiannon.

.
.
Like her, I had made her a sleepover bag to hold those all-essential bits and pieces.
.
.
.
.
I made a zippered wash bag out of some fab pebble oilcloth I've had for ages and stuffed it with rollers, deodorant, shower-gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dry-shampoo and some nail-varnish.

..

.

.
I bought some face-masks and made a reversible head-band to keep her hair out of the way whilst she waits for the mask to dry and crack.
.
.

.

Lavender is supposed to help send you to sleep, so I made a padded heart with lavender inside.

..
.
I printed a vintage picture of Sleeping Beauty being woken by her Prince onto some fabric and added some "sleepy" text like "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" and "Sweet Dreams" on it.

.

.
And here is the thing that I got the flash of inspiration about.
.
.

.
It's an eye mask to keep the early morning daylight from her eyes.
.
I wanted to use some gorgeous, beautiful eyes as the image.
.
Can you guess whose eyes I used?
.
Want a clue?
.
.
Still no?
.
.
You'll be pleased to hear that even Ms Jolie does not have perfectly symmetrical eyes, so I have in fact used her left eye and flipped it over to make them fit on the mask.
.
I think it's fab!
.
Mr Jelly was less impressed however, asking "what's the point?", and even Rhiannon's other half apparently asked "why"?
.
I suppose we should both be pleased that neither of our partners fancy waking up next to a beautiful goddess!
.
I hope Rhiannon loves her stuff as much as I love mine.
.
I really enjoyed doing this swap so thank you Mrs T for organising it (hope you feel better soon) and thank you Rhiannon for being such a fun partner!

What a great idea for a swap. Both your little sleepover bags are fabulous. The mug is well, swoony. Even if the respective gentlemen aren't impressed I think there's stacks to be excited about in these parcels!

It seems you were very well matched swap partners - any girly would surely have been thrilled with either package! I am very impressed you managed to resist the temptation to pop in a hip flask of something warming though ;-)
